El Reino de los Atavillos se desarrolló entre los años 900 y 1400 en las alturas del actual Huaral, siguiendo la cuenca del río Chancay; y a no mas de 150 Km. de Lima capital; en etapa inicial de la historia universal denominada "Edad de Bronce".

Esta cultura tiene sus orígenes en las cercanías del Lago Titicaca y se estima que llegó a la zona de Huaral como parte de la expansión del imperio Huari-Tiahuanaco. Al decaer este imperio, el antiguo Perú quedó dividido en diversos señoríos, siendo los Atavillos uno de ellos. Estos tuvieron como vecinos posiblemente a: los Cantas y los Yauyos por el sur, los Huancas por el este y, los Chancay al norte y oeste.

The Kingdom of the Atavillos was developed between the years 900 and 1400 in the heights of present Huaral, following the river basin Chancay; and not more than 150 km from Lima capital; in the initial stage of the universal history called "Bronze Age".

This culture has its origins in the vicinity of Lake Titicaca and it is estimated that it reached the area of ​​Huaral as part of the expansion of the Huari-Tiahuanaco empire. When decaying this empire, the old Peru was divided in diverse señoríos, being the Atavillos one of them. They had as neighbors possibly: the Cantas and the Yauyos in the south, the Huancas in the east and the Chancay in the north and west.
